Haslet is a city in northwestern Tarrant County, Texas, with a small portion extending into adjacent Denton County, within the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. It lies about 15 miles north of downtown Fort Worth and roughly 20 miles south of Denton, at the junction of Interstate 35W and U.S. Highway 287. The city borders Perot Field Alliance Fort Worth Airport, and its surroundings include a large concentration of distribution and logistics facilities that anchor significant regional employment.
Haslet began as a rural railroad settlement and remained small for most of its history, recording a population of just under 2,000 in the 2020 census. Its location along major transportation corridors and near the AllianceTexas industrial district has since drawn substantial suburban residential development, with new single-family subdivisions joining the area's older homes and larger rural properties. The transition from farming community to suburban outpost is reflected in the mix of ranch-style homes, custom lots, and newer master-planned neighborhoods.
The community is served by Northwest Independent School District, which spans 234 square miles and enrolls roughly 18,000 students across 14 communities in parts of three counties. Haslet's schools, including Haslet Elementary, anchor family life in the city and draw many households to the area.
For residents, Haslet offers a semi-rural atmosphere that has gradually become more suburban. Eagle Mountain Lake and its 400-acre park with miles of hiking trails lie nearby, as does the Fort Worth Nature Center and Refuge. Shopping and services are readily accessible along the I-35W corridor and at the Alliance Town Center to the south, while Fort Worth, Denton, and the broader metroplex remain within easy commuting distance. Haslet appeals to households seeking new-construction housing, larger lots, and a location convenient to the region's major job centers.
